Customer Testimonial: SYPAQ leverages automated multispectral imaging and object detection capabilities to serve customer needs
SYPAQ’s implementation of Overwatch Imaging's TK-7 Smart Sensor and accompanying software solutions provide the company's national critical infrastructure customer with an effective and reliable solution for surveillance and monitoring of the large-scale nationwide network. The following is a direct testimonial provided by SYPAQ.
"The advanced technology and comprehensive support delivered by Overwatch Imaging not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations, contributing to the safety and integrity of an extensive pipeline network across diverse environments."
Customer Need
A SYPAQ client, a leading nationally critical infrastructure customer, faced the challenge of securing a vast, Australian nationwide network of underground pipeline. These pipelines spanned urban, residential, pastoral, and remote areas, requiring continuous threat detection and condition monitoring throughout the year. The threats ranged from minor issues like missing or downed signs to significant risks such as positioning of heavy earthmoving equipment and unauthorized construction activities.

Solution
Overwatch provided the TK Smart Sensor as part of a comprehensive surveillance capability package delivered by SYPAQ. Initially, the end user considered the use of an uncrewed system, but the vast distances and built-up areas made such platforms unsuitable for a range of reasons. Satellite imagery was also deemed unreliable due to its low resolution and vulnerability to cloud cover. Traditional visual monitoring via light aircraft lacked the comprehensive imagery and evidence collection required of a modern solution. The ideal solution was identified as a blended tactical RPAS type payload on a light-crewed aircraft, offering high-resolution imaging, near real-time intelligence products, automated threat detection, and flexible deployment.
The TK element of the solution provided detailed visuals of pipeline routes in various terrains, overcoming the limitations of satellite imagery.
Near real-time data transmission enabled immediate threat reporting and response, ensuring prompt threat identification and response. Automated threat detection identified a range of potential risks, from minor issues to significant threats, while the versatile deployment of the payload on a light-crewed aircraft ensured extensive coverage and adaptability across the nationwide pipeline network in all seasonal conditions.

Implementation and Support
Overwatch worked closely with SYPAQ to ensure seamless integration of the TK Smart Sensor into the operation. The deployment process included an initial assessment to analyses the required flight profiles, followed by a custom configuration to tailor the TK performance to meet the specific needs of SYPAQ, and comprehensive training and support program to ensure optimal and reliable performance.
Benefits to the Customer
The implementation of the TK Smart Sensor significantly enhanced the aerial surveillance program by enabling immediate identification and response to unauthorized access and threats, thus reducing risks across the entire network. Automated monitoring and near real-time data transmission reduced the need for manual inspections, saving time and resources while maintaining a comprehensive up-to-date high-resolution imagery of the entire network in multiple bands to develop predicative maintenance programs. The solution's flexibility allows for easy scaling to cover additional pipeline routes, renewable energy asset monitoring, environmental monitoring supporting operating permit requirements and adapt to changing conditions as needed while reducing traditional ground activity significantly.
